Pro-vitamin B5 Sorbitol

Active, biologically stable form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), a part of coenzyme A which is important for:

  • Structure and function of
    living tissue1
  • Resistance of the mucous membrane1

Helps prevent dehydration by creating a barrier to slow down evaporation of moisture2

Topical applications of B5 have demonstrated that pro-vitamin B5
  • Reduces epithelial permeability in dry eye3
  • Accelerates healing of superficial wounds4
  • Significantly improves moisture content of dry skin5
Pro-vitamin B5 is used in
  • Treatments for burn victims6
  • Ophthalmic eye drops
  • Moisturising lotions and cosmetics
Hygroscopic properties to readily absorb moisture from the atmosphere2

Maintains isotonicity by replacing sodium chloride to help keep tears at their normal osmolarity of 310 mOsmol 7

Non-reactive, non-ionic compound with soothing properties, often used as an emollient and in medical products such as cough syrups and burn wound treatments

The Unique MicroBlock™ lens case

The MicroBlock Lens Case The MicroBlock lens case contains the inorganic antimicrobial agent silver to reduce contamination and prevent biofilm formation8. The silver is injection moulded into the plastic so efficacy is not affected by surface abrasion. Silver ions are enclosed in a carrier and released only when the case comes into contact with moisture.
